Monitoring management

Monitoring · Last updated 11 September 2026

Every site carries its own set of monitoring switches, and setting them one site at a time gets old quickly. Monitoring management puts all of them in one grid: every domain down the side, every check across the top, and a way to change many at once.

What it is

A single table at /dashboard/monitoring/manage with one row per domain and one column per check. Seven checks are covered: uptime, SSL, DNS, expiry, blacklist, malware and typosquatting. Each cell is a switch you can flip on the spot, and a bulk bar above the table can flip one check across many domains at once.

Above the table are eight counters: the number of domains listed, then how many of them have each of the seven checks switched on. Under that is a search box, a two-way lens of Monitored only or All domains, and the bulk bar. Each row also shows when that site was last checked, and a star for adding it to your favourites.

Why it matters

It is the fastest way to see what is actually being watched. A site that has been added but never switched on looks exactly like a site that is being monitored until you look at this grid.

Switching a check off is not the same as ignoring its alerts. The check stops running for that site, so nothing new is recorded and nothing is raised. That is what you want for a staging copy or a holding page, and what you very much do not want on a live client site.

Who can open it

Staff level and above, so admins, owners and staff members. A client, viewer or read-only member is sent back to their portfolio view. Free accounts cannot open it. See Team members and user roles.

What is listed

Every domain in the organisation that is not deleted and is not marked archived, sold or transferred, ordered by name. Where a domain belongs to a client, the client name is shown underneath it. The lens at the top decides which of those rows you see:

  • Monitored only, the default. Rows with at least one of the seven checks switched on.
  • All domains. Every row, including sites with nothing switched on at all. This is the view to use when you are looking for the ones you have forgotten.

The seven checks

SSL, DNS and expiry are treated as on unless they have been explicitly switched off, so a site that has never had these touched shows them enabled. The other four are off until someone turns them on.

Changing one switch

Click any cell. The change is saved immediately, the switch moves, and a short confirmation appears in the corner. There is no save button and nothing to confirm, because a single switch is easy to put back. Uptime, SSL, DNS, expiry, blacklist and malware changes are written to the audit log with the site name and the check, so a switch flipped last month can still be traced. The typosquatting switch is the exception: it is saved, but it is not recorded in the log.

Changing many at once

  1. 1
Choose the check you want to change from the row of buttons in the bulk bar. Only one check is changed at a time.
  2. 2
Decide the scope. Tick individual rows to target just those, or leave everything unticked to target every row in the current lens. The bar says which it is about to do, and the count updates as you tick.
  3. 3
    Press Enable or Disable.
  4. 4
Confirm in the box that appears. It repeats the check, the direction and how many domains it will touch, and a disable warns that those sites will stop receiving alerts for that check.

The bulk change is recorded in the audit log as one entry naming the check and the number of domains affected, not as one entry per site.

Searching does not narrow a bulk change

The search box narrows what the table displays, but a bulk change with nothing ticked still applies to every row in the current lens, including rows the search is hiding. If you want a bulk change limited to a few sites, tick those rows rather than searching for them.

The last checked column

The date on the right is the most recent of the uptime, blacklist and malware timestamps, and only counts the ones currently switched on. A site with none of those three enabled shows a dash even if other checks are running, because those three are the only timestamps this column reads. A site that has them on but has not been visited yet shows Pending.

Not the same as switching a module off

This screen turns a check on or off for one site. The Modules tab in Settings turns a whole feature off for everyone in the organisation, hiding it from the navigation and stopping its alerts across every site at once. If a check has disappeared entirely rather than being switched off on a row, look there first. See Turning modules on and off.

Where to find this

Good to know

  • Reach it from the Manage monitoring link under the sites table on your dashboard home.
  • Switching a check on does not cost credits. The credit-consuming audits are separate, and are not on this grid.
  • Archived, sold and transferred domains are not listed. Un-archive a site if you need to change its checks.
  • The star beside each domain is a personal favourite. It affects only your own view and nobody else's.
  • The uptime and blacklist reports only cover sites with that check switched on here. See Reports.
