Website uptime monitoring

Website uptime monitoring without false alarms

Website uptime monitoring checks that your site answers, and tells you when it goes down. TLDTrack checks every monitored site every 5 minutes, and every minute while it looks down. Before a downtime alert goes out, the failure is checked again from two more regions, so you act on real downtime, not a blip.

01 · How it works

From first failed check to confirmed outage

A single failed request is not an outage. Here is what has to happen before TLDTrack wakes anyone up.

2 of 3

regions must agree a site is down

01

Checked every 5 minutes

Every monitored site is checked every 5 minutes. While a site looks down, checks tighten to every minute so recovery is spotted fast.

02

Retried before it counts

A transient blip at a shared edge is not downtime. Failing checks are retried before TLDTrack treats the site as down.

03

Confirmed from three regions

Routine checks run from London. When one fails, it is checked again from US East and Singapore, and the site only counts as down if they do not both see it up.

04

Alerted, then all-clear

The incident records its start time and alerts go out. When the site recovers, you get an all-clear with the full outage duration.

Every incident is recorded with its start, end and duration, so you can tell a client exactly what happened and for how long.

02 · Alerts

Downtime alerts where your team already works

A confirmed outage goes out by email on every plan. Paid plans add SMS, mobile push, Slack, Microsoft Teams and signed webhooks.

On paid plans you can switch on escalation: if nobody opens a critical alert, TLDTrack re-sends it once to the contacts you choose, so a 2am outage does not sit unread until morning. How alerting and escalation work

03 · Service monitors

More than the homepage

Service monitors sit under each domain and watch the parts of a site a homepage check never touches.

90 days

of history on every monitor

HTTP

HTTP endpoint checks

Point a monitor at any URL, an API route, a login page, a search endpoint, and check the status code and what the response body contains.

Ports

Port checks

TCP and mail port checks catch a dead database, SMTP server or custom service before users hit it.

Heartbeat

Heartbeat monitors

Crons and scheduled jobs ping a secret URL after each run. If a check-in stops arriving, TLDTrack alerts you that the job has silently stopped.

Every monitor gets a 90-day history bar, so you can see at a glance how each service has behaved, not just whether it is up right now.

04 · Clients

Uptime your clients can see

A public status page per site, and one dashboard for the whole portfolio.

Status pages

Show clients the uptime you deliver

Every site can have its own public status page, branded as yours, with one row per check. You choose which checks each page shows, and it needs no dashboard access. How status pages work.

Portfolio

One dashboard for the whole portfolio

Uptime sits alongside SSL, DNS, content, visual and security monitoring for every site you manage, so one tab replaces five.

05 · Pricing

Simple, transparent pricing

Every paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Cancel during the trial and you won't be charged.

06 · Questions

Frequently asked questions

How often does TLDTrack check my site?

Every 5 minutes. While a site looks down, checks tighten to every minute so downtime and recovery are both spotted quickly.

How do you avoid false alarms?

A failed check is retried after a short pause, so a passing blip at a shared edge does not count. The site has to fail more than one check in a row. Then the failure is checked again from US East and Singapore, and the site only counts as down if those two regions do not both see it up.

What happens when my site comes back up?

TLDTrack sends an all-clear on the same channels as the downtime alert. The incident records its start, end and duration, so you know exactly how long the site was down.

Which channels can downtime alerts use?

Email on every plan. Paid plans add SMS to UK mobile numbers (prepaid credits), mobile push, Slack, Microsoft Teams and any URL you control via a signed webhook, and with escalation switched on, a critical alert nobody opens is re-sent to the contacts you choose.

Can I monitor more than the homepage?

Yes. Service monitors add HTTP endpoint checks on the status code and response body, TCP and mail port checks, and heartbeat monitors for crons and scheduled jobs. Each one keeps a 90-day history bar.

Can my clients see uptime?

Yes. Every site can have its own public status page, branded as yours, with one row per check you choose to show. It needs no account and no access to your dashboard.

How do I know when my website goes down?

Add the site to TLDTrack and switch on uptime monitoring. When a failure is confirmed you get a "Website down" alert by email, and on paid plans by SMS, push, Slack or Teams. When the site comes back, you get an all-clear with how long it was down.
