Managing your subscription

Plans & billing · Last updated 16 July 2026

Once you are on a paid plan, everything about your subscription is in your own hands. You can move up or down a plan, change the card you pay with, download your invoices, turn off auto-renewal or cancel entirely, all from the billing area, without emailing anyone. This page explains how each of those works and what to expect.

What it is

Your billing area is the single place to manage your plan and payments. It shows your current plan, your trial or subscription status, and your scan-credit balance, and it links out to a secure payment portal for card and invoice management.

Some actions (changing plan and cancelling) happen directly inside TLDTrack. Others that touch card data (updating your payment method, downloading invoices) open a secure Stripe-hosted billing portal, so your card details are handled by Stripe and never stored by us. You are returned to your billing page when you finish.

Why it matters

Being able to change plan, update a card before it expires, or grab an invoice for your accounts without waiting on support keeps you in control and keeps your monitoring running without interruption.

Payment details and invoices are exactly the sort of thing you need at awkward moments: a card expires, finance asks for a receipt, you win a batch of new clients and need more room. Handling all of it yourself, instantly, is far better than a support ticket and a wait.

Where to manage it

Everything starts from the Billing page, under Admin in the sidebar. Only owners and admins can open it. There you will see your current plan, whether you are trialling or subscribed, and your remaining scan credits. From that page you can change plan, open the payment portal, or cancel.

Upgrading and downgrading

You can change plan at any time. What happens next depends on whether your subscription is already active:

  • If you are already subscribed, the plan change is applied to your subscription immediately. The change is pro-rated: you are credited for the unused part of your current plan and charged for the new one, and the difference appears on your next invoice. Before you confirm, the billing page shows you the pro-rated amount.
  • If you are still on a trial (or do not yet have an active subscription), changing plan sends you to a secure checkout to set the new plan up, and the new plan is charged straight away.

Downgrades work the same way: the change applies straight away, the lower plan's limits apply at once, and the unused part of the higher plan is credited on your next invoice. Sites you already have keep being monitored, but you cannot add more until you are under the lower plan's website limit.

  1. 1
    Open Billing.
  2. 2
Find the plan you want and review the pro-ration preview on its card.
  3. 3
Confirm the change. If you are subscribed, it applies at once; if you are trialling, you are taken to checkout.
  4. 4
You will land back on the billing page with confirmation, and a confirmation email is sent.

Only the three main plans switch here

Plan switching in the billing area covers Starter, Pro and Agency. These are the plans that scale website count, team seats and credit allowance, which is what most changes are about.

Updating your payment details

To change the card you pay with, open the secure payment portal from your billing area. This is hosted by our payment provider, Stripe, so your card details go straight to them and are never held by TLDTrack. Inside the portal you can add a new card, set it as the default, and remove an old one. When you are done, you are returned to your billing page.

Update the card before it expires

If your card is close to expiring, update it in the portal ahead of your next billing date. That avoids a failed payment and the follow-up emails that come with it, and keeps your monitoring running without a hitch.

Viewing and downloading invoices

Your invoices and payment history also live in the payment portal. Open it from your billing area and you can view each charge and download a PDF invoice, which is what your accounts team will usually want. Every renewal produces an invoice there, so you always have a record of what was charged and when.

Cancelling

You can cancel whenever you like, and what happens depends on your status:

  • During the trial, the Cancel subscription button is not shown. Ask us from the Support page and the trial is cancelled straight away with no charge. See the free trial for the details.
  • On a paid subscription, cancelling turns off auto-renewal rather than cutting you off. You keep full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.
  1. 1
    Open Billing.
  2. 2
Press Cancel subscription. On a paid plan the cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
  3. 3
Confirm. A cancellation confirmation email is sent, telling you the date your access runs until.

Changing your mind

If you cancelled a paid subscription but have not yet reached the end of the period, ask us from the Support page to turn auto-renewal back on. The subscription then renews as normal, with nothing lost.

Where to manage your subscription

Good to know

  • Plan changes apply immediately, upgrades and downgrades alike, and are pro-rated on your next invoice.
  • Card changes and invoice downloads happen in the secure Stripe payment portal; we never store your card.
  • Cancelling a paid plan turns off auto-renewal but keeps your access until the paid period ends.
  • Cancelling during a trial is immediate and costs nothing.
  • Need more credits without changing plan? Top up with a credit pack instead.
