Visitor feedback widget

Let visitors report problems right where they happen

A button on the site opens a short form: bug, feedback or suggestion, a message, and an optional email. Reports arrive in your dashboard with the page they came from, plus a screenshot of that page when the visitor points at the problem. It switches on from the snippet you already have installed.

01 · Why it matters

Most visitors never report a problem. They just leave.

Finding your contact page to describe a broken button is more effort than closing the tab. A report button on the page itself is often the only way you hear about the problem at all.

Bugs you only hear about weeks later

The usual version: a client forwards an email from a customer who saw a broken page "a while ago", with no URL and no details. A widget report arrives when it happens, tied to the page it happened on.

"It's broken" with no context

Every report includes the page it came from and the visitor's message, plus a screenshot of that page when they point at the problem. You start from evidence, not a description.

Feedback tools that annoy everyone

Nothing here pops up on its own. The button sits in a corner until clicked, and you can limit it to certain pages, a sample of visitors, or only after something went wrong.

Ideas with nowhere to go

Visitors and client teams spot improvements you will not. Suggestions arrive labelled as suggestions, kept separate from bug reports.

02 · The process

How it works

Turn it on, choose where it shows, and reports start arriving with context attached.

01

Switch it on

The widget loads through the same TLDTrack snippet as error tracking and heatmaps. Turn it on and it appears on the site. There is no extra code to install.

02

Make it yours

Set the button label, colour and corner. Choose which pages show it, desktop or mobile visitors, or a percentage sample.

03

Visitors report in seconds

One click opens a small form: something is broken, general feedback or a suggestion, plus a message and an optional email if they want a reply. No account needed.

04

Triage with evidence

Reports land in your dashboard with the page and the message, plus a screenshot when the visitor points at the problem. You get an alert, then work through them as new, reviewed and resolved.

03 · Targeting

Control exactly where it appears

Four controls decide who sees the button and when.

Only the pages you choose

Include or exclude specific paths. Show it on the checkout and support pages but not the blog, or the other way round.

Only some visitors

Show the button to a percentage of visitors when you want a steady trickle of reports rather than a flood.

Only after an error

With error tracking on the same snippet, the button can appear only for visitors whose page just threw a JavaScript error, so the person who saw the failure can tell you what happened.

Desktop, mobile or both

Show it to desktop visitors, mobile visitors, or both.

Works alongside heatmaps and automated testing in the same dashboard.

05 · Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to add another script to the site?

No. The widget is delivered through the same TLDTrack snippet used for error tracking and heatmaps. Turn it on in the dashboard and it appears; turn it off and it disappears. When it is off, the widget request returns an empty response, so it adds nothing to the page.

What does a visitor actually see?

A small button in the corner you choose, with your label and colour. Clicking it opens a compact form: a type selector (something is broken, feedback, or a suggestion), a message box and an optional email field for a reply. No account is needed.

What arrives in my dashboard?

The report type, the visitor's message, their email if they left one, the page it was sent from, and, when the visitor points at the problem, a fresh screenshot of that page captured by TLDTrack. You also get an alert when a new report comes in.

Can I stop it showing on certain pages?

Yes. Include or exclude any paths, limit it to desktop or mobile visitors, or show it to a percentage sample. You control exactly where and how often it appears.

What is the "after an error" mode?

With error tracking on the same snippet, the widget can stay hidden until a visitor's page throws a JavaScript error, then invite that visitor to describe what they were doing. Nobody else ever sees it.

Will it slow the site down or annoy visitors?

The widget is a small script loaded in the background after the page renders. It never opens on its own; it waits to be clicked. Sampling and page targeting decide who sees the button at all.

Which plans include it?

The visitor feedback widget is included on Starter, Pro and Agency plans, alongside error tracking and heatmaps. Every paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial and your card is not charged until the trial ends.
