The free trial

Plans & billing · Last updated 16 July 2026

The Starter, Pro and Agency plans start with a free trial, so you can set up your sites, see the alerts land, and decide whether it fits before you pay anything. This page explains exactly how the trial works, what you get during it, and precisely what happens on the day it ends, so there are no surprises either way.

What it is

A 7-day free trial on the Starter, Pro or Agency plan. You enter your card details at checkout, but nothing is charged during the trial. You get full access to that plan for the week.

The trial lasts 7 days. Your card is collected up front so that, if you decide to stay, your monitoring simply continues with no gap. If you decide it is not for you, you cancel during the week and you are not charged a penny. The trial window is fixed from the moment you start, so delaying does not shorten or extend it.

Why it matters

A trial lets you do the real thing, adding your actual sites and watching how the monitoring behaves, rather than judging the product from a demo. And because it runs for a full week, you have time to see an alert or two before deciding.

Website monitoring only proves its worth when something goes wrong, and you cannot schedule that. Giving you a full week means there is a genuine chance to see TLDTrack catch a real change, a certificate warning, or a slow response, rather than asking you to take it on trust.

Starting a trial

You start a trial when you sign up and choose a plan. You will be asked for card details at that point, but this is only to set up the subscription; no charge is taken while the trial is running. From the moment you finish, you have the full plan for the next seven days.

  1. 1
Create your account and pick the plan you want to try (Starter, Pro or Agency).
  2. 2
Enter your card details. This sets up the subscription but does not charge you now.
  3. 3
Start monitoring: add your websites, switch on the checks you care about, and set your notification contacts.
  4. 4
Use it as you normally would for the week. Everything on your chosen plan is available.

What you get during the trial

The trial is not a cut-down preview. You have the complete plan you selected, at its full limits, for the whole seven days:

  • The full monitoring stack: uptime, SSL, DNS, content and visual change detection, email health and renewal alerts.
  • Your plan's full website allowance, so you can set up your real list, not just one test site.
  • Alerts by email and push, SMS if you buy SMS credits, plus Slack, Teams and webhook channels, exactly as they will work if you stay.
  • On plans that include them, the deeper scan-based audits and the agency tools.

The point is to let you get fully set up. Anything you configure during the trial, the sites, the contacts, the checks, carries straight over if you continue, so there is no re-doing your work on day 8.

What happens when the trial ends

This is the most important part to understand. The trial auto-converts to the paid plan. If you do nothing, your subscription starts automatically when the seven days are up, and the card you entered is charged for your chosen plan. Your monitoring simply continues without a break.

That is deliberate. Nobody wants their site monitoring to quietly switch off at the end of a trial, precisely when it might catch a problem. So the default is that everything keeps running.

Do nothing and it continues

If TLDTrack is right for you, there is nothing to do at the end of the trial. Your subscription begins on day 8, your card is charged for the plan you picked, and all your monitoring, sites and contacts stay exactly as they are.

How to avoid being charged

If you decide TLDTrack is not for you, you avoid any charge by cancelling before the trial ends. Cancelling during the trial stops it immediately and takes no payment.

  1. 1
Open Billing to check how many days your trial has left.
  2. 2
The Cancel subscription button only appears once a paid subscription is active, so during the trial, ask us to cancel it from the Support page before your seven days are up.
  3. 3
A trial cancelled this way stops straight away, rather than at a future date, and no charge is made.

Set yourself a reminder

If you are trialling to evaluate and are not sure yet, put a note in your calendar a day before the trial ends. That gives you a moment to decide on purpose, rather than being charged by default. Either outcome is fine; the point is that it is your choice.

After the trial converts

Once your trial converts, you are on a normal monthly subscription and nothing about your monitoring changes. From that point you can upgrade, downgrade, update your card, view invoices or cancel at any time. All of that is covered in managing your subscription. If you cancel after the trial rather than during it, you keep full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.

Where to manage your trial

Good to know

  • The trial is 7 days on Starter, Pro and Agency. An account that has already had a trial or a subscription is charged at checkout instead.
  • Your card is collected at the start but not charged until the trial ends.
  • The trial window is fixed from when you start, so it cannot be accidentally extended by delaying.
  • Cancel during the trial and you are charged nothing; the cancellation is immediate.
  • Do nothing and your plan begins automatically on day 8, with your monitoring uninterrupted.
