Honest comparison · updated July 2026

TLDTrack vs Pingdom website monitoring compared

Pingdom is a veteran uptime and performance monitor with fast checks and deep synthetics. TLDTrack trades some of that depth for breadth: uptime plus DNS, SSL, blacklists, malware, email health, content changes and renewals, at a fraction of the price as you scale.

02 · The difference

Where the costs actually diverge

Pingdom prices per monitor and per product. TLDTrack prices per portfolio, with all nine check types included.

A handful of sites

Pingdom's $10/month starter covers 10 uptime monitors, and it does uptime very well. But DNS, blacklists, malware, email health and renewals are simply not on the menu at any price.

Growing past 10 monitors

Pingdom's ladder steps to $25/month for 25 monitors and $50/month for 50, with SMS alerts and advanced checks capped per tier. Costs climb steadily once you monitor more than the homepage of each site.

The TLDTrack model

One flat monthly price covers all nine check types on every domain in your plan. Adding a check type never costs extra, because they are all included from the start.

TLDTrack is right if…

  • You manage many domains and want one dashboard for all of them
  • You care about the whole domain, not just response time
  • You have been bitten by a DNS change, an expired SSL, or a blacklist hit
  • Email deliverability and content integrity matter to your business
  • You want alerts in Slack or Teams and heartbeat checks on your crons
  • You are an agency, hosting reseller, or multi-site owner watching costs

Pingdom is right if…

  • You need 1-minute checks and sub-minute detection on critical endpoints
  • You run transaction checks constantly and do not want them metered (TLDTrack journey runs use scan credits)
  • You want real user monitoring alongside synthetic checks
  • You monitor a small number of high-value applications, not a portfolio

04 · Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is TLDTrack a good Pingdom alternative?

If you use Pingdom for uptime and page speed on normal business websites, yes, TLDTrack covers both and adds seven more check types for less money. TLDTrack also runs recorded user journeys (log in, search, add to basket) on a schedule using scan credits, and measures Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS and TTFB) from real visitors through its tracking snippet. If you need unmetered transaction runs at high frequency, Pingdom still fits that job.

Pingdom checks every minute. Is TLDTrack’s 5-minute interval enough?

For most businesses, yes. A 5-minute interval means an outage is picked up at the next check, at most 5 minutes later, and TLDTrack retries before alerting so you are not paged for a single blip. If you genuinely need sub-minute detection on a critical endpoint, Pingdom is stronger there.

Does TLDTrack do transaction (multi-step) monitoring?

Yes. Journey testing records a real browser walking through steps like “log in, search, add to basket” and runs them on a schedule, alerting you when a step breaks. It does not complete payments. Each run uses scan credits from your plan’s pool, so it suits scheduled confidence checks rather than constant high-frequency runs, which is where Pingdom’s metered transaction checks compete.

How does pricing compare as I add sites?

Pingdom meters monitors, advanced checks and SMS alerts per tier ($10/mo for 10 monitors, $25 for 25, $50 for 50, billed annually), and page speed or transaction checks draw from a small “advanced” allowance. TLDTrack charges one flat monthly price for your plan’s domain allowance with all nine check types included on every domain.

Can I run both side-by-side during evaluation?

Yes. Sign up for the TLDTrack free trial without cancelling Pingdom, add the same sites to both, and compare the alerts you get over a week. Your card is not charged for 7 days.
